2.3 EtherCAT Slave Design (從站設計）
EtherCAT features are to be selected according to the device requirements（需求）. Thus, to develop an EtherCAT slave device, the developer should be conscious about the requirements of the device to decide which characteristic is to be chosen for every EtherCAT feature.
In the following, an overview to the design criteria （設計準則） is given of which the ESC is the most important EtherCAT characteristic. The configuration of these criteria is finally stored（這個配置標準最后儲存在） in the ESI file and the EEPROM.
2.3.1 Bus Interface to EtherCAT Network（總線接口）
這需要決定于 ESC 的選擇（相適應），一般一個獨立的設備通過 100Base TX 或者100BaseFx 電纜連接到 Network

D-Code connectors) to provide line connection. The logical port for connection is determined based on the number of ports being used. For standard 2 port usage, port0 and port1 are used. The PHYs should be selected according to（參考） the PHY Selection Guide（PHY選擇指南）.

MII (Media Independent Interface )是介質(zhì)無關接口。40針。MII類似于 10Mbps以太網(wǎng)的連接單元接口（AUI）。MII層定義了在 100BASE-T MAC 和各種物理層之間的標準電氣和機械接口，這種標準接口類似于經(jīng)典以太網(wǎng)中的 AUI，它允許制造廠家制造與介質(zhì)和布線無關的產(chǎn)品，利用外接 MAU去連接實際的物理電纜。
100Base-FX 使用的是兩股光纖，其中一股用于發(fā)送數(shù)據(jù)，另一股用于接收數(shù)據(jù)�？捎脝文９饫w或者多模光纖，在全雙工情況下，單模光纖的最大傳輸距離是 40 千米，多模光纖的最大傳 輸距離是 2 千米。100Base-FX 信號的編碼于 100Base-TX 一樣采用4B/5B-NRZI方案。
100BASE-TX 使用的是兩對抗阻為 100 歐姆的 5 類非屏蔽雙絞線，最大傳輸距離是100 米。其中一對用于發(fā)送數(shù)據(jù)，另一對用于接受數(shù)據(jù)。100BASE-TX 采用的是 4B/5B編碼方式，即把每 4 位數(shù)據(jù)用 5 位的編碼組來表示，該編碼方式的碼元利用率=4/5*100%=80%。然后將 4B/5B編碼成NRZI進行傳輸。
